- Steroids are synthetics drugs that resemble natural hormones made in
the body The type of steroids that are misused are anabolic androgenic
steroids (AAS), which copy the effects of the male hormone, testosterone
- Corticosteroids are a set of steroid hormones which are either
produced in the adrenal cortex or are made synthetically.
- Corticosteroids produced naturally are known as systemic steroids,
while those produced chemically are called synthetic steroids. Systemic
steroids are given either orally or by injection. Adrenal cortex, found
along the perimeter of the adrenal glands, produce two main
corticosteroids, cortisol and aldosterone. When the adrenal glands stop
producing the required amount of corticosteroids, synthetic steroids are
given to the patients
- Betamethasone is a highly potent steroid that prevents the release
of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Betamethasone topical
(for the skin) is used to treat the inflammation and itching caused by a
number of skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis
- Dexamethasone is a type of corticosteroid medication. It is used in
the treatment of many conditions, including rheumatic problems, a number
of skin diseases, severe allergies, asthma, chronic obstructive lung
disease, croup, brain swelling, eye pain following eye surgery, and
along with antibiotics in tuberculosis
- Prednisolone is a steroid medication used to treat certain types of
allergies, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disorders, and cancers.
Some of these conditions include adrenocortical insufficiency, high
blood calcium, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatitis, eye inflammation,
asthma, and multiple sclerosis.

- The reactors utilized in the process are multipurpose reactors to
manufacture the products. The capacity of reactors will be different for
different products, area wise for the manufacturing of steroids,however
it is based on the quantity of the products (steroids) to be
manufactured as per the demand.

promotion of domestic manufacturing of APIs to restrict dependency on
Overseas suppliers
