- Epoxy or polyepoxide
is a thermosetting epoxide polymer that cures when mixed with a
catalyzing agent or "hardener".
- Epoxy adhesives are
a major part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives" or
"engineering adhesives".
- Epoxy resin was
produced first from canola methyl ester and later from canola
oil.
- A new
nitrogen-containing epoxy resin was synthesized from chain extension of
xylenephenolformaldehyde resin and triglycidylisocyanurate in the
presence of base catalyst.
- Electron-beam
(e-beam) induced polymerization of epoxy resins proceeds via cationic
mechanism in presence of suitable photoinitiator.
- Epoxy
crystallization occurs similarly to other crystal growth. High purity,
low viscosity, impurities, extreme cold, and temperature cycles all
increase the probability of occurrence.
- Matrix Epoxy
Injection Resin is a high performance material, which gives excellent
bond to concrete, brickwork, stonework and hence permanently
sealing
and structurally bonding such substrates.
- The applications for
epoxy-based materials are extensive and include coatings, adhesives and
composite materials.
- Epoxies are sold in
hardware stores, typically as a pack containing separate resin and
hardener, which must be mixed immediately before use.
- In the aerospace
industry, epoxy is used as a structural matrix material which is then
reinforced by fiber.
- Epoxy resin is used
in manufacturing rotor blades of wind turbine.
- Microscopic
observations are observed from the debonding of brittle epoxy resins
from harder substrates in which surprisingly large degrees of plastic
deformation have occurred.
