• Chlorinated paraffins or polychlorinated n-alkanes (PCAs) consist of C10 to C30 n-alkanes
  with chlorine content from 30 to 70% by mass
• Commercial Chclorinated Paraffins mixtures fall into different categories: C10–C13 (short), C14–C17 (medium) and C20–C30 (long)
• Chlorinated paraffins are used as high temperature lubricants,
  plasticizers, flame retardants, and additives in adhesives, paints, rubber, and sealants and therefore has got good market potential
• They are produced by chlorination of n-alkane feedstocks.
• Chlorinated Paraffin Wax is produced by chlorination of Heavy Normal Paraffin (HNP) at controlled temperature in the presence of catalyst.
• Chloriated paraffins are relatively inert materials, but prolonged exposure to heat and light or the presence of aluminium, zinc or iron can result in dehydrochloriation, resulting in a darkening of the materiaL. Stabilizers are therefore usually added for storage.
•  Most commercial chlorinated paraffin products are liquid and range from relatively low to extremely high viscosity. There are also solid types which have longer carbon chain lengths and usually contain 70-72% chlorine.
• Chlorinated Heavy Normal paraffin is
  a replacement of chlorinated paraffin
  wax. The method of manufacturing of
  both the products is the same and so is the end-use.
