- Anthuriums are
internationally produced and traded as both cut flowers
and potted blooming plants.
- The main Anthurium growing belts are the tropical
areas of the world.
- Anthuriun is best grown
in areas having a temperature of 15 to 32 degrees
Celsius and a relative humidity of 60 to 75
- Anthurium is a genus of more than 800
species found in the New World tropics from Mexico to
northern Argentina and Uruguay; species are also native
to the West Indies.
- They are grown for their brightly colored flower
spathes and/or their ornamental leaves.
- Shading from Sunlight is Necessary for Normal Growth
for Anthuriums.
- The North-Eastern States
and Bastar in Madhya Pradesh are also suitable for its
cultivation. The total area under the crop now is about

part of Maharashtra
- Damage to flowers include fading of Spathes
(especially pastels) and Burning of Spadices.
- Many producers use saran cloth houses supported with
lumber or Glavanized pipes and wire.
- Fertilizing should not be an issue for quite a few
months.
- If you are going to fertilize, use a light solution
of a 3:1:2 ratio and it is probably best to dilute to
1/4 strength.
- New plants are established by dividing the roots in
the spring and potting the separated pieces.
- Anthurium is one of the top 10 cut flowers sold at
the Netherlands Auctions
- The Netherlands is a major supplier of anthurium,
followed by Mauritius.
- The main markets are Italy, Germany,Switzerland,
Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Russia and the US.
