Contents on the CD Rom

  • Validamycin is a agricultural antibiotic. All its molecules contain glucose.

  • Validamycin solution is brownish transparent liquid, and the technical product is a color-less and odorless hygroscopic powder, soluble in water, dimethyl formamide, insoluble in ethyl acetate, ethyl ether and petroleum ether.

  • Validamycin is a kind of agricultural antibiotic with good control on disease of fungi such as sheath blight of rice, wheat and corn without pollution to environment.

  • Validamycin A , a commercially used agricultural antifungal antibiotic, is a microbialderived pseudotrisaccharide, which contains a core aminocyclitol moiety, validoxylamine A , and glucose.

  • Validamycin is a water soluble antibiotics produced by Strep. Hygroscopicus Var. Jinggangensis Yen, which consists of six components named A, B, C, D, E, F respectively. Validamycin A is the major active ingredient.

  • Validamycin A is a member of microbial-derived C7N-aminocyclitol family of natural products that is widely used as crop protectant and the precursor of the antidiabetic drug voglibose.

  • A gene cluster responsible for the biosynthesis of validamycin, an aminocyclitol antibiotic widely used as a
control agent for sheath blight disease of rice plants, was identified from Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp.
jinggangensis 5008 using heterologous probe acbC, a gene involved in the cyclization of D-sedoheptulose
7-phosphate to 2-epi-5-epi-valiolone of the acarbose biosynthetic gene cluster originated from Actinoplanes sp.strain SE50/110.

  • ValG is a glycosyltransferase (GT) that is responsible for the glucosylation of validoxylamine A to validamycin A.

  • A 45 kb DNA sequencing analysis from Streptomyces
hygroscopicus 5008 involved in validamycin A (VALA)
biosynthesis revealed 16 structural genes, 2 regulatory
genes, 5 genes related transport, transposition /integration or tellurium resistance; another 4 genes had no obvious identity.

  • China plays a major role in antibiotics production. Antibiotics of industrial, agricultural and medicinal significance like erythromycin, avermectin and validamycin are produced in vast amounts every year.
